God will speak to you.

God will speak to you in the most unusual ways and you will miss his voice if you are not paying attention. So many of us are praying to God for something, and yet we complain that we do not hear his voice or he is not answering us when he already has.

There is an old story about a man in a flood trapped on a roof. He trusted God will save him from drowning. As the waters continued to rise he kept his faith in God. A boat came offering to save him, the man declined saying that God will save him. Later a helicopter came by with a ladder and rope and he refused to be rescued saying God will save him. The flood waters eventually rose and the man drowned to death. When he arrived in heaven he asked God, why did you not save me or answer my payers? God replied, I sent you a boat and helicopter; you ignored my answers because I did not save you in the way you wanted me to.

We must stop looking for Gods answer in the way that we would answer it because we are not God. God will answer you in the way that he pleases and that is according to his will. Why won’t God answer the prayer in the way you want? Well do you give your children everything they want, when they want it and HOW they want it? No, and in the same way we are Gods children and he will answer you but not always how you want him to. Stop trying to find Gods answer in the way that you want him to answer, stay vigilant and keep seeking God and you will find his answer to your prayer.

Finding God in your fears.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.

As ordinary people, we become scared easily. Scared that we are not good enough, scared that we wont be able to pay our next bill and fear that we are to far from God. Fear is a hindrance in our life and causes us to try and do things on our own instead of relying on God. We start to fulfill our life with temporary pleasures that leave us more empty, instead of relying on God to give us joy and to fulfill us in a way that only he can.

Being fearful is saying that you don’t trust God to take care of you and protect you and to bring you through whatever trial it is that you may be going through. Do you remember when you were a little kid and when something scared you and you ran to your parents for protection? Once you were in their embrace you no longer felt fear; this is because you trust your parents to take care of you. When something in life scares us and we don’t trust our heavenly father to be with us, our fear will only stay and we will only be continuing a life of fear and hindrance.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

When we have fear in our lives, and not power and self control, we are no longer living in the spirit of God. Put on the full armor of God and cast your fears onto him.

1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Give your fears to God, your anxiety and burdens.  You do this in the prayer closet, pray to him, call out to him and cry out his name. When I am fearful, I spend time with God, I worship him and I pray to him. Our God is a very approachable God; talk to him like you talk your friends. Tell God why your scared, why your doubtful and call out to him. The same God who picked you up and saved you is the same God that will squash you fears.

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.

There is no fear in love and love casts out fear. Love your lord your God with all your heart. Pour out your love to him and ask him to show you his love. Once you are drowning in the love of God, then there is nothing to fear nor be afraid of.

Matthew 8:23-27

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”

In the above story, Jesus’s disciples were afraid that they were going to drown and die. Then Jesus spoke a bone chilling statement that probably shook the disciples at their core. Jesus told them that they had little faith. They had little faith in their God to save them.
When we are in fear and are in trials, we must have faith that God will save us, have faith in who he is and do not doubt him. God is not going to leave you to die, he is going to mold you into his image. There is no reason to be afraid in this life when we are following Christ. We must trust in him and have Faith that he will carry us through, as he is God and we are not.

Thanksgiving

The bread of life was thankful for all the bread given to him, for all the Father had done for him

It is that time of the year to shove stuffing, ham, turkey, potatoes, and more turkey down our throats ruining our new years resolution on weight loss that was started the beginning of the year.

There is a lot for us to be thankful for, Jesus and salvation is the biggest reason obviously.

What was Jesus thankful for though on his time here on earth? well lets dive into scripture and take a look.

Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd. Matthew 15:36

“Jesus responded, ‘Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.’” John 11:40-42

Jesus was thankful for those hearing the Gospel, he was thankful for all the things that the father has done for him. The first verse he thanked the father that he was able to feed those in need, he was thankful for others, not just himself, Jesus was and is truly humble.

In the second verse posted, Jesus is thankful that the father heard him. We need to be thankful like Jesus was. Jesus was thankful in every instance of his life. The bread of life was thankful for all the bread given to him, for all the Father had done for him and that the Father hears him. We are to be thankful to God just as Jesus was thankful to his Father.

Jesus is the main reason we are to be thankful this year. Here are my reasons to be thankful: Salvation, Family, Food, Not broke, A roof over my head, Another day to be alive to serve Jesus.

What reasons do you have to be thankful?

Finding God in the midst of your trials.

I see you going through trials in your life. The pain and struggles you are facing, relationships falling apart, working 60 hours to make ends meet in your household. I see you losing hope, joy and peace. It seems as if the storm clouds wont part and the waves wont calm.

If we want to find God in the midst of our storm we must realize that it is not about us and that we must look in the right place for him and know how to respond to his voice. Our trials are not about us, the ” woah is me me me” attitude needs to go. The sooner we realize that God is molding us into his image for his glory, more we will recognize God in our strife. How are clay pots created? They are refined in fire to be molded into the likeness that its creator wants it to be in.

Isaiah 64:8 ESV

But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand

We are Gods workmanship.

Once we realize that God is molding us into what he wants us to be in our trials, we need not look in the wrong places for God. We can not be getting caught up in the cares, woes and worries of the world; we can not get caught up in a pattern of overthinking our current situation. What happens when we focus on the trial we lose focus on who God is. We can not get so caught up in the midst of our despair and miss Jesus’s hand that is reaching to us because we are no longer focused on looking for him.

In your trials, once you stopped making it about yourself and started understanding that God is making you into a better person and that it is about him and not you, and once you start focusing on looking for Jesus and stop focusing on your own despair, then hearing Gods voice in the storm will be much easier. Let the holy spirt counsel you, let Gods presence into your struggle and let him do the work that only he can do. Count it joy for the trial, because that is when we most often come to the understanding of the power of our God.

I see you struggling, I am praying for you and declare victory over your life in Jesus name. Jesus did not leave you as an orphan, he left us his spirit and it is crucial that you allow the spirit of God to flow through you like a river. God is good. Stay the course, keep the faith.

When God says no

We first need to remember that God is God and we are not God and that his ways are above ours. He sees the future, we do not; he lays out the foundations of our life, yet our ways lead to destruction

Sometimes God will tell you no, he will decline your prayer request and say “Son, Daughter; my answer is no.” When this happens we are at a crossroads. We can either take offense to God and be angry or we can pursue after the will of God and find peace in his answer.

How do we find peace in the instance of God saying no? I mean, you prayed for God to get you that new job and then God slammed the door shut in your face, how are you supposed to be happy and find peace? We first need to remember that God is God and we are not God and that his ways are above ours. He sees the future, we do not; he lays out the foundations of our life, yet our ways lead to destruction! Why does God have to say yes, if that is the case we are God and he is not. See if your God never disagrees with you then your worshiping yourself.

God sees into the future while we do not, God may see that job leading you into self idol worship while you do not. God may see a different job for you where you get to witness to others yet you do not see this in the future. God says ask and it will be given unto you as long as what you are asking for is within his will. So if God says NO to you; then we are to know that what we prayed for was not in his will. He has something much better for you.

Do not take offense to God when he tells you no. Years ago I wanted to be apart of a youth leadership team. God told me no and to leave that church. I was flabbergasted at this. Come to find out, the youth group turned into petty fights and left God; God wanted to remove me from that situation before it even happened to me. God knows what is best. Put your trust in him and remember God is not your fairy God mother giving you all your wants. He will give you all your NEEDS not wants. He is for you not against you.
