As ordinary people, we become scared easily. Scared that we are not good enough, scared that we wont be able to pay our next bill and fear that we are to far from God. Fear is a hindrance in our life and causes us to try and do things on our own instead of relying on God. We start to fulfill our life with temporary pleasures that leave us more empty, instead of relying on God to give us joy and to fulfill us in a way that only he can.
Being fearful is saying that you don’t trust God to take care of you and protect you and to bring you through whatever trial it is that you may be going through. Do you remember when you were a little kid and when something scared you and you ran to your parents for protection? Once you were in their embrace you no longer felt fear; this is because you trust your parents to take care of you. When something in life scares us and we don’t trust our heavenly father to be with us, our fear will only stay and we will only be continuing a life of fear and hindrance.
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
When we have fear in our lives, and not power and self control, we are no longer living in the spirit of God. Put on the full armor of God and cast your fears onto him.
1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
Give your fears to God, your anxiety and burdens. You do this in the prayer closet, pray to him, call out to him and cry out his name. When I am fearful, I spend time with God, I worship him and I pray to him. Our God is a very approachable God; talk to him like you talk your friends. Tell God why your scared, why your doubtful and call out to him. The same God who picked you up and saved you is the same God that will squash you fears.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.
There is no fear in love and love casts out fear. Love your lord your God with all your heart. Pour out your love to him and ask him to show you his love. Once you are drowning in the love of God, then there is nothing to fear nor be afraid of.
Matthew 8:23-27
25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”
