I see you going through trials in your life. The pain and struggles you are facing, relationships falling apart, working 60 hours to make ends meet in your household. I see you losing hope, joy and peace. It seems as if the storm clouds wont part and the waves wont calm.
If we want to find God in the midst of our storm we must realize that it is not about us and that we must look in the right place for him and know how to respond to his voice. Our trials are not about us, the ” woah is me me me” attitude needs to go. The sooner we realize that God is molding us into his image for his glory, more we will recognize God in our strife. How are clay pots created? They are refined in fire to be molded into the likeness that its creator wants it to be in.
Isaiah 64:8 ESV
But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand
Once we realize that God is molding us into what he wants us to be in our trials, we need not look in the wrong places for God. We can not be getting caught up in the cares, woes and worries of the world; we can not get caught up in a pattern of overthinking our current situation. What happens when we focus on the trial we lose focus on who God is. We can not get so caught up in the midst of our despair and miss Jesus’s hand that is reaching to us because we are no longer focused on looking for him.
In your trials, once you stopped making it about yourself and started understanding that God is making you into a better person and that it is about him and not you, and once you start focusing on looking for Jesus and stop focusing on your own despair, then hearing Gods voice in the storm will be much easier. Let the holy spirt counsel you, let Gods presence into your struggle and let him do the work that only he can do. Count it joy for the trial, because that is when we most often come to the understanding of the power of our God.
I see you struggling, I am praying for you and declare victory over your life in Jesus name. Jesus did not leave you as an orphan, he left us his spirit and it is crucial that you allow the spirit of God to flow through you like a river. God is good. Stay the course, keep the faith.
We first need to remember that God is God and we are not God and that his ways are above ours. He sees the future, we do not; he lays out the foundations of our life, yet our ways lead to destruction
Sometimes God will tell you no, he will decline your prayer request and say “Son, Daughter; my answer is no.” When this happens we are at a crossroads. We can either take offense to God and be angry or we can pursue after the will of God and find peace in his answer.
How do we find peace in the instance of God saying no? I mean, you prayed for God to get you that new job and then God slammed the door shut in your face, how are you supposed to be happy and find peace? We first need to remember that God is God and we are not God and that his ways are above ours. He sees the future, we do not; he lays out the foundations of our life, yet our ways lead to destruction! Why does God have to say yes, if that is the case we are God and he is not. See if your God never disagrees with you then your worshiping yourself.
God sees into the future while we do not, God may see that job leading you into self idol worship while you do not. God may see a different job for you where you get to witness to others yet you do not see this in the future. God says ask and it will be given unto you as long as what you are asking for is within his will. So if God says NO to you; then we are to know that what we prayed for was not in his will. He has something much better for you.
Do not take offense to God when he tells you no. Years ago I wanted to be apart of a youth leadership team. God told me no and to leave that church. I was flabbergasted at this. Come to find out, the youth group turned into petty fights and left God; God wanted to remove me from that situation before it even happened to me. God knows what is best. Put your trust in him and remember God is not your fairy God mother giving you all your wants. He will give you all your NEEDS not wants. He is for you not against you.
Often times I ask myself, “Jessee, are you living for God to your fullest potential? Are you letting God lead you into the great unknown asking God for the impossible or am I just living a comfortable do nothing christian walk” Another way I can put it is, am I only willing to serve God where I am comfortable? Am I chasing the dreams that God put in my heart or am I to afraid of the unknown and give up.
While reading a devotional that pastor Steven Furtick wrote, something stuck out to me on what he wrote, “If your not asking God to do the impossible then your missing out on the best parts of your christian walk.” When your in the word of God reading about the great men that God used; Moses, Noah, John the Baptist etc. how often do you find yourself having the same level of faith that the men of old had. If God said to you that you will split the red sea to save his people; would you believe that you could do that or would you back away because such a great task is out of your comfort zone.
In my faith I am finding that I am afraid of the great unknown. I have all these dreams and hopes that God has instilled on my heart to do and the great unknown is; will I ever be able to do what God has called me to do or will I fail and fall short?
Ask God to perform the impossible in your life. If your struggling in life and you do not think you will ever achieve what God has called you to do; call out to God to perform a miracle. One of the greatest stories in the bible was when Joshua was at war. He knew that day he needed to defeat the enemy but he knew if the sun were to set; then the enemy would escape. Joshua prayed to God for the impossible and God allowed the sun to not set. It was the prayer that made the sun stand still. I earnestly believe God can still perform those very same miracles in your and my own life.
They say, with the faith of a mustard seed, that you can move a mountain and I want a faith like that.
We all make mistakes and cross that line. We all mess up and fall and burn bridges. Our hearts all have been broken; and we all have broke hearts. Guilt does a job on everyone’s soul; that guilt though is the holy spirit nudging on your soul to call out for forgiveness. Who are we to call out to forgiveness for? Well..God; we have all wronged God.
Who has? Surely not me you may say, but the word of God says for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We all need forgiveness; were all holding onto the guilt of something terrible we have done. The good news is Jesus hung on a bloody cross for us so that we may be forgiven. Just cry out to Jesus and let go of the guilt. Nothing is sweeter then the day we find forgiveness. No matter how lost you are; your not to far for the grace of God to find you.
You can go and play it like nothing has ever happened but you can bet that when your head hits that pillow at night it’ll be on your mind. You’ll be fighting that guilt and you’ll be fighting that emptiness. Don’t hold onto to it; give that weight to God. Your never to far gone.
